What This World Has Come To

Earlier today I was at the laundromat doing some laundry. Due to boredom I began to look around at the other people around. It is amazing that only a few thousand years ago we had to fight and run away for survival. Most people had a hard time just bending over to pick up laundry. A few thousand years is not a long time in terms of change. However, in that amount of time we have lost all physical survival mechanisms we once had. We need to get back to what we once were. Taking part in an appropriate fitness program and eating the right foods can go a long way to helping bring us back to the way things once were.

    I hear of so many people that have “put their back out” or strained their shoulder/elbow – just by doing regular daily activities. Indeed, if WE as a species could only see the big picture of how much our bodies have deteriorated due to horrible eating habits and nonexistent exercise. We may live longer these days – but for many, I don’t think they are really LIVING at all.

    Everyday my 8 month old and 2 1/2 year old perform some “exercise” that I have my clients do such as Superman or even a body weight squat to the ground just as ordinary play. It amazes me these are foundational and functional movements that many people can no longer do. Why have we become such a sedentary society?
