Why We Do Single Leg Squats

Here is a link to an abstract of a study that compared a bilateral back squat to a unilateral pistol squat. The results were remarkable. The single leg squat increases testosterone to the same degree and may be even more then the back squat with a much lower load on the lower back. Also, force development is being generated and built upon from one leg which elicits more real life and sports specific gains. Here is the study
